Jessica is teaching Darlene how to make a new bracelet and she did her lesson well. Darlene in two days had six orders for bracelets after people saw her creation!
And, look at what Nancy and Maureen created with Crown Royal bags. Commissioned by Nellie, this quilt was made for her husband as a father's day gift. Leftover bags, no problem -- Nancy made this unique purse out of them..........................
GRRRRRRRRRRRR! Another picture of this purse is at the bottom of the page.... I cant get it to move! Sorry!
Our resident quilter and sewing machine "master" Nancy, along with Maureen "jill" of all trades have created so many new things and are building a fantastic inventory for our craft fairs this winter and next spring. The Gators and Dolphins are big in Florida of course, so they have created these, purses, remote control holders, wallets, bags, etc.
Maureen our "jill" tackles big things as shown in the replacement boat seat covers she makes. Our meeting place at the lodge gives her plent of space to work. Of course, she needs "little" projects too, so she knitted this top during the group gatherings.
YES, she is available for your boat seat repairs!
Dorothy continues to do swedish weaving, but she has many interests. This week she brought in "tons" of beautiful shells and frames to share with others who made some really neat picture frames. A "friend" of hers asked if she could repair a hole in a pair of capris. Dorothy can't do anything plain, so embroidered around the hole and place flowers on the pants, without a hoop! Amazing woman!
Nelli continues to grow in her lampwork beadwork. She is now "blowing shards". Notquite sure how she does it, but the end result if beautiful. She has created a series of bead (Reef Series) . To see some of her work, visit her on-line site at http://www.firedancerbeads.etsy.com/
Her "student" Jessica, has a creative mind of her own is growing by leaps and bounds in her bead making and jewelry design too, even selling some bracelets in a local store. Go Jessica. http://www.wix.com/ is a new website she has set up if you would like to see what this amazing 15 year old does.
Marge has a knack for taking apart jewelry and re-making / designing new pieces at a rate that is fascinating. I've seen her do at least 14 in an afternoon!
and, Steve & Karen G. are building quite an inventory of polymer beads, ink pens and jewelry. Karen keeps experimenting withthe polymenr clay and creating some really unique pieces. Steve's wire are jewelry is beautiful!
Of course we continue to do swedish weaving in the group and Darlene has had two orders already for bably blankets from a proud great grandpa!
Thanks again to the Okeechobee Walmart for keeping a decent craft and fabric supply department when remodeling the store! We sure enjoyed having a craft department employee and her friend join our group too! To show you a little of how lucky we are here in Okeechobee, these pictures our from the Port St. Lucie Walmart. They have ONLY two aisles for crafts and facbrics now - NOTHING by the bolt. Prepackaged 2 yard fabric in prints or solids - that's it folks. Prepackaged projects our available for things like placemats, aprons, etc. Only two sewing machines, basic color threads and patterns ---- don't even go there..................................
HELP!!! If anyone knows of an "easier" blog package Please let me know. It is taking me about 3 hours to format this blogspot. That's three hours away from my crafting!
Any suggestions appreciated.
I'm so proud of all our members..........special thanks to those who have continued to come since we began....thank you for inviting new people and bringing them in to join us. Summer months will mean that there will be a change in attendance, but you will always have a friend there to share with and continue to craft.
We are working on scheduling the next craft fair athe the Buckhead Ridge Moose lodge and will be requesting a date in early December. I will keep you posted. Continue to share our blog with your friends and family.... spread the word about our group.
Until then, Happy Crafting, Bonnie B.
