Arts and Crafts found in different states - pictorial view

 

I've posted pictures of some beautiful or interesting arts and crafts that we saw the past three weeks.  As far away as Tennessee, and as close as Stuart.  Sandy shared some she saw in Las Vegas.  Hope you enjoy and maybe get some ideas.

I loved this windchime, porcelain bowl and spoons with beads.  My sister beat me to the purchase!  Darn her.  I'll just have to make one for myself.

Historic downtown Stuart had this neat shutter and the shell framed mirror.  Thought Dorothy would have loved this one

My sister created this Date-A-Space (her business) for Sandy and Dennis's wedding gift

After the wedding, Sandy went shopping and found this frame and jewelry (including the jewelry box) made out of sea shells.  Paper thin and beautiful

Not to offend anyone, but I thought this was cute................................... don't we all wish people would use the proper ways to complain.

Vacation months don't stop crafting!

While some of us were away, others were very busy!  Thanks to Maureen and Nellie for providing these pictures of some of the new creations and projects that have been happening.

Thanks to Dorothy for teaching everyone how to make these flower candle holders.

We are coming up our our 7th month anniversary of the craft group and going strong. 

It won't be long until our craft fair in December.  Waiting for firm date at lodge.  Get ready people!

Donation to Mooseheart Children

Yesterday, June 23rd, the Buckhead Ridge Crafters from Moose Lodge 2417 had the opportunity to deliver several quilts to Jerry Monk for Mooseheart.  Jerry is the new regional manager for our Florida area and gladly received the quilts to carry to the Moose International Convention next week and personally deliver them.  Nancy Bartholomew was the seamstress that made and donated them - thank you Nancy!  

HOT TIME SUMMER ON THE RIDGE..........

Yes, it is hot everywhere!  Summer is here and just like the heat in the air, we are heating up in our group.  We're approaching the 6 month mark, and growing in both numbers and talents.  Young people have joined us, not only learning but teaching us as well!  This group is awesome and we are so proud to have both men and women participating. 

Jessica is teaching Darlene how to make a new bracelet and she did her lesson well.  Darlene in two days had six orders for bracelets after people saw her creation!

Tawashi

Tawashi was fun for alot of us! Tawashi is a Japanese name for scrubbies crocheted with a special yarn complete with chemicals not available in the U.S.
The patterns come in many fun forms and we chose Sandals for the Florida area. Guage wasn't important -- good thing! The purple "bigfoot" was a big hit - we even had a sale that day and created a patriotic sandal.

This is JESSICA - our newest artist to join the craft group. Three months shy of the old age of 16, Jessica is homeschooled by her grandmother. Home Economics is on the curriculum and what better place to learn than with our crafters? She is going to teach us a thing or two this month also when she will teach us how to make bracelets with pearl beads.

Jessica who had an interest in lamp work glass bead making found our member Nellie Stanley who introduced her to our group. Jessica has taken a lesson from Nellie already and we hear she is purchasing the tools and grandpa has even offered to build her a studio. We welcome her and hope to support her for years to come.

The latest examples of fabric painting on three new tote bags by newer members.

We continue to miss our friends that have gone back north of us! We're plodding on without you, but look forward to your return. Next month we will introduce another crochet project - loop stitch rugs. Hurry back and bring us your new ideas and finished projects.

Please check out the group Beads of Courage. Nellie and I traveled north to visit with a group of lamp work glass bead makers and walked into a group creating for this fascinating non profit organization. Mother (and founder) has a young daughter who at a very young age began a fight with cancer. Mom would give her a bead for courage. This idea has mushroomed and is a legal non profit organization giving courage to children everywhere. The bonus was we met a member of the Glass Dragons who had made a bead that just 10 days ago went along with a handle of others on the last space shuttle to benefit this group. Please check them out - another proof that artists and crafters are giving people.
